Rare rudraksh found in temple treasury
Tiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu, Nov 1 (UNI) Authorities of the Sri Arunachaleshwarar Temple here found a huge and rare 'Ekamuga Rudraksh' weighing about 200 gm among the valuables stored in the Temple Treasury.
Joint Commissioner of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endownment Department and Temple Executive Officer Pugazhendiran said they used to review the valuables periodically.
During one such review, they found the rare rudraksh which was slightly bigger than a cricket ball.
Decorated with gold-coated silver 'poon,' the rudraksh was donated in 2006 by a devotee.
They decided the rudraksh would decorate the 'utsavamoorthi' on all 'pradosham' days here after.
To start with, the rudraksh would be adorned on the processional deity of Sri Arunachaleshwarar on Novermber 10, a pradosham day.
