Patna, Nov 1 (UNI) With a few months left for the Lok Sabha elections, several prominent personalities in Bihar unit of the BJP are at loggerheads for the prestigious Patna Parliamentary seat.
Even as this seat is in the RJD's fold, several BJP leaders are interested to test their poilitical future from here in the coming Parliamentary elections.
Sources close to the BJP said the prominent contenders have started contacting the top brass within the BJP and also in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to get an opportunity to enter the electoral battle from Patna Lok Sabha seat.
Actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha, BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, retired IPS officer Acharaya Kishore Kunal, Dr Gopal Sinha and party treasurer R K Sinha are some of the prominent names figuring in the list of the contenders.
The BJP had already reserved its 33 per cent seats at the organisational level for women and in view of the fact the party, in principle, will have to follow the reservation while fielding candidates in the elections.
The political pundits within the BJP opined that in case the Patna Lok Sabha seat is reserved for women, the party, in want of strong women personalities in its fold, will have very little choice.
National general secretary and former spokesperson Kiran Ghai (MLC) is one among few women personalities popular in the party.
Ms Ghai is a known and popular face in Patna and in case the party has to make any choice among its women contenders, including Ms Ghai and former MLA Sukhda Pandey and Chandramukhi Devi, Ms Ghai appears to be the most suitable candidate from Patna Parliamentary seat, the political observers felt.
