Jeev struggles to regain form, rain closes play on 2nd day

By Staff

Sotogrande, Spain, Nov 1 (UNI) It was another poor day for India's Jeev Milkha Singh as he struggled to find his form with a three-over in his front nine before heavy rain washed out the second day's play in the European Tour's Volvo Masters golf tournament here.

As strong winds and heavy rain lashed the Club de Golf Valderrama within four hours of the start, the organisers were left with no choice but to abandon play, Tournament Director David Garland said.

Around 10 players, including the leader Soren Kjeldsen and Sergio Garcia, were yet to start their second rounds.

Before the weather played spoilsport, rendering the course unplayable, Jeev was stumbling with three bogeys in his front nine.

The Indian, who was already struggling with his form, was once again thwarted by the windy conditions.

He carded a 74 in the first round, before he started his campaign in the second day with a bogey on the first hole.

The Indian also missed a couple of strokes, leaving him three-over with nine holes still to be completed.

However, the leader-board remained unchanged with Kjeldsen leading by three strokes after a first round 65.

Garcia stands second with his first-round 68.
