IFFCO makes special arrangements for urea

Tiruchirapalli, Nov 1 (UNI) The Indian Farmers' Fertiliser Cooperative Ltd (IFFCO) has made special arrangements for the supply of urea to help farmers who were now busy with the cultivation of 'Samba' and 'Thaladi' crops in the Cauvery Delta Region.

According to IFFCO sources a consignment of 2,658 tonne of urea, imported from Egypt, reached here yesterday.

It will be supplied through the Tamil Nadu Cooperative Marketing Federation (TANFED) to the farmers of five districts.

The sources said 1,200 tonne had been allotted to Tiruchirapalli; 500 tonne to Ariyalur; 400 tonne to Perambalur; 300 tonne to Karur and 350 tonne to Pudukottai District.

The price per tonne of imported urea was Rs 17,000 and it would be sold to farmers at a subsidised price of Rs 5,100, they added.
