Dimapur security intensified following Assam blasts
Kohima, Oct 31 (UNI) Following the series of bomb blasts in neighbouring Assam, the Dimapur district administration has beefed up the security measures in Dimapur town, which is said to be a safe haven for North East militants.
Official sources here today said strict vigil has been kept on Dimapur railway station, Inter-state Bus Terminus (ISBT) and the number of Motor Vehicle Check Points (MVCP) has been increased in and around Dimapur town, manned by the police, Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB), CRPF and Assam Rifles.
Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung district in Nagaland Bendangkokba informed that Additional District Magistrate of Sivsagar district of Assam M Gogoi has promulgated prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPC and night curfew from 1800 hours to 0600 hours along the Nagaland-Assam border. The order has already come into force and will continue for next sixty days from the date of issue of the order.
Following the checking at various points, an NSCN(K) activist and a civilian were arrested yesterday from the Fifth Mile area of Dimapur and one 7.65 country made pistol was seized from their possession.
Police also geared up its intelligence network and was frequently sharing information with its Assam counterparts.
