BJP hoardings in Delhi violate EC code of conduct: Congress
New Delhi, Nov 1 (UNI) Strongly protesting against the BJP pasting banners and posters all over the capital, the State Congress today charged the BJP with violation of the Election Code of Conduct.
In a statement here, the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Jai Prakash Agarwal, MP, strongly protested against the BJP defacing and misusing public property by pasting banners and posters all over Delhi.
He said the BJP had defaced public places with posters and banners to misguide the public, which was a blatant violation of the Election Code of Conduct.
Mr Agarwal expressed his surprise that the BJP had put out the hoardings and posters of their leaders on all available public and private places and properties in the capital in gross violation of the EC Code of Conduct.
He said since the BJP was in power at the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, the posters and banners of the BJP were not being removed, completely disregarding the orders of the Election Commission.
Mr Agarwal said he would petition the Election Commission to take punitive action against BJP leaders for violating the Election Code of Conduct, and for defacing public property, and would urge to issue direction to the BJP-ruled MCD to remove all the banners and posters of the BJP forthwith.
The DPCC chief has written to the Election Commission to take strong action against the BJP, which has been indulging in unfair practices ever since the notification for the Delhi Assembly election dates was issued in order to influence the voters.
