BJP Govt. stays four Hydel Power projects
Shimoga, Nov 1(UNI) The Karnataka Government has stayed permission granted for setting up four Hydel Power Stations along the river Tunga in the District, Minister for Energy K S Eshwarappa said today.
Talking to media persons here, he said the permissions were issued by the previous JD(S)-BJP coalition government. Avani Power Corporation, Boruka Power Corporation, Dhanalakshmi Pvt.Ltd. and Annapurna Pvt.Lmt. were given permission to take up Hydel Power project. But on the basis of a petition filed by former Legislator from Thirthahalli Araga Jnanendra the government has issued stay order and ordered that till the next instruction from the government they should not go ahead with their projects.
He said that a High Level Committee was constituted and asked to give detailed report on the consequences of establishment of these Hydel projects in the region.
He said that the Cabinet Sub-Committee on Power would meet in Bangalore on November Nine and discuss about taking a delegation to New Delhi regarding proposed Kudgi Thermal Power Project in Bijapur.
Regarding Tadadi Ultra Mega Thermal Power project, he said that the protestors were convinced about the necessity of the project and the government is firm on establishing the project.
Mr Eshwarappa said that the Goa state government has already agreed to facilitate the transportation of required coal for proposed Kudgi Thermal Power Project.
