Union Home Minister visits Assam blast sites
Guwahati, Oct 31 (UNI) Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil today visited the blast sites in Assam and took stock of the situation.
He arrived at the Guwahati airport in the afternoon and flew down to Kokrajhar in a special Air Force helicopter.
Mr Patil called on the injured at the Kokrajhar civil hospital before visiting all the three blast sites in the town.
Refusing to comment on the possibility of any specific group being involved in the serial blasts, he said, ''It is too premature to comment, investigations have been started.'' ''We will find out who is behind the blasts and any group or individual found to be linked, will be punished,'' Mr Patil added.
He also visited the blast sites at Barpeta Road and enquired into the medical facilities for those injured in the twin blasts in the town.
He was accompanied by Bodoland Territorial Council chief Hagrama Mohilary, Bodo MP S Bwiswmuthiary and state Cabinet ministers.
Arriving in Guwahati in the evening, Mr Patil visited the affected areas and discussed the security scenario with top state and Central government, Home Ministry and other department officials.
Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi also present in a meeting with the Union Home Minister at the Raj Bhavan.
