Chennai, Oct 31 (UNI) Top notch squash is in the offing when the 15,000 US Dollar PSA Indian Challenger Squash tournament begins at the ICL Squash Academy here from November 3.
The PSA Indian Challenger-1 would be the first in a series of international tournaments supported by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sport under the scheme for preparation of Indian teams for the Commonwealth Games 2010.
The event, which has top two ranked Indians Saurav Ghosal (rank 39) and Ritwik Bhattacharya (Rank 53) as the top two seeds, would end on November 8.
The 16-player main draw has entries from Austria, Hong Kong, Malaysia and England.
The other Indians in the fray, included Siddharth Suchde, Gaurav Nandrajog and Harinderpal Singh (wild card).
Four slots in the main draw would be decided by qualifiers.
The qualifying phase also has a comprehensive line up with several overseas players from Kuwait, Egypt, Iran and Jordan.
Naresh Kumar, Vikas Jangra, Sandeep Jangra, A Parthiban and B Balamurugan were the prominent Indians in the fray in the qualifying rounds.
Squash Rackets Federation of India Secretary Srivatsan Subramaniam thanked the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sport in supporting this event.
