Thane businessman murder case accused escapes from police custody
Thane, Oct 31 (UNI) The Nepali youth Manbahadhur Thapa, arrested in connection with the murder of a city-based businessman Pravin Gala on October 28, escaped from the police custody today.
According to sources, Thapa, who had sustained injuries during the attack on the Galas, was admitted to the civil hospital here and was in the custody of Naupada police.
At around 1500 hrs, he escaped from the hospital along with the handcuffs, and vanished.
A manhunt has been launched to nab him.
Meanwhile, traders from the city today took out a morcha to the Naupada police station demanding his immedidate arrest. The morcha was led by Thane district Shiv Sena chief Ekanth Shinde.
No action has been taken so far against those policemen who were on guard duty at the hospital, sources added.
