Special medical camp held in TN
Tiruchirapalli, Oct 31 (UNI) About 2,000 inmates of the Central Prison and the Special Prison for Women and the prison department staff took part in a special medical camp held in the Central Prison here yesterday, according to official souirces.
The sources said the camp was organised at the initiative of the Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss, after his urge to meet the Vanniyar Sangam President J Guru, who was lodged here as a detenu under the National Security Act (NSA) during his recent visit to the Central Prison.
The sources said during the health camp, 95 doctors of various specialities from the Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry, the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences, Bangalore, Apollo Hospital, Chennai, and G V N Hospital, Tiruchirapalli, conducted tests, including blood pressure and sugar level and ECG.
The camp involving specialists was the first of its kind in the State, the sources added.
