Colombo, Oct 31(UNI) Sri Lankan Cricket (SLC) Chairman Arjuna Ranatunga today fired another salvo against IPL saying his board lost three million dollar because of it (IPL).
Ranatunga claimed that Sri Lanka's next year's tour to England was cancelled because of non-availability of senior Lankan players who will play in the Indian Premier League and that cost SLC three million dollar.
Media quoted Ranatunga as saying that Sri Lanka board was to receive Three million dollar, including two- million for TV but it lost that money because of IPL.
Several senior Sri Lanka players have contract with IPL and dates of which clash with tour dates hence ''we have to call it off.'' The eight IPL teams have top 13 Sri Lankan players on three-year contracts, including captain Mahela Jayawardene, Kumar Sangakkara, Muttiah Muralitharan, Sanath Jayasuriya and Chaminda Vaas.
Ranatunga asserted that his country's senior cricket players are paid well in the country with each of them earning 40-45 million (Sri Lankan) rupees last year.
