Salwa Judum to benefit BJP: Chhattisgarh CM
Raipur, Oct 31 (UNI) Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh today said the state's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party would derive assembly poll benefit all over the state from the ongoing anti-naxal 'Salwa Judum' campaign in naxalism-affected Bastar division.
''Bastar's tribals, who constantly live under terror's shadow, have understood who would stand firmly by their side in their fight against rebel terror,'' Dr Singh told UNI candidly here when asked about the BJP's gain from Salwa Judum that in tribal Gondi dialect means 'Peace Movement'.
Although 'Salwa Judum' is non-political and never had a political objective, the Chief Minister alleged that other political parties speculated about it and some openly opposed it.
''However, the BJP resolutely supported the campaign,'' he added.
