Rupee opens 17 paise up at 49.50
Mumbai, Oct 31: The rupee on Friday, Oct 31 opened high at 49.50 against per US dollar with a gain of 17 paise from it last finish of 49.67, following selling of dollars by nationalised banks. Later, it moved in a range between 49.35 and 49.55 in the intra-day session.
Rupee rose to its highest in the week this morning, tracking gains in other Asian currencies and a rally in the local stock market. However, dollar demand from oil refiners may prevent further rise, a leading dealer said.
