Pathanamthitta, Oct 31 (UNI) Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President Ramesh Chennithala today accused the CPI(M) of turning the police force in the state ''Red''.
Talking to reporters here, he alleged that the state police had been totally politicised by the LDF government and added the recent meeting of police personnel in the party office should be viewed in this context.
He alleged that CPI(M) leaders had no qualms about attending send-off parties given to police officials.
Mr Ramesh also challenged Minister Paloli Muhammed Kutty, now incharge of home-affairs, to suspend those police officials who took part in the meeting held at Kottayam CPI(M) district committee office recently.
He charged Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan with neutralising the state police which had great reputation in the country.
The LDF government had miserably failed to contain increasing terrorist activities in the state. The failure to forsee the secret meetings of banned ''SIMI'' in various parts of the state had revealed the grave lapses on the part of the state intelligence and Home Ministry, he added.
Kerala had become a haven for LTTE. The state was also flooded with hawala money and counterfeit currency notes. The LDF government had been adopting a ''soft policy'' towards extremism as a gesture of gratitude to the help rendered by some parties to the CPI(M) in the last Assembly election, Mr Chennithala alleged.
