Rahul Bakshi finishes fourth

By Staff

New Delhi, Oct 31 (UNI) Rahul Bakshi faltered in the final round, shooting a 76, which put him out of contention for the title of the Faldo Series, won by England's Steven Brown.

The tournament was played at the Costa Do Sauipe Golf Resort in Brazil.

Rahul still had reason to cheer, winning in the U-18 age group category by a margin of 14 strokes over his nearest competitor.

According to information received here, another Indian Rashid Khan strung together his best round of the tournament, a three over par 75 but it was too little too late. With a three day total of 235, he failed to leave any sort of impression.

Starting the final round, Rahul must have set a top place finish in mind but two double bogeys in the card really hurt him and in the end, he finished five strokes adrift of the leader.

Following rounds of 72 and 69, 21 year-old Steven's final-round 72 in windy conditions gave him a three-under-par total of 213, four shots ahead of Scotland's Andrew Wallace, who carded a 73, and overnight leader James Watts from England who struggled to a 79.
