Probe panel orders issue of notice to Jaya's close aide Sasikala

Chennai, Oct 31 (UNI) The Justice Sivasubramaniam Commission, constituted by the Tamil Nadu government to enquire into the alleged land grab issue, today ordered issuance of notice to Ms Sasikala, close friend of former Chief Minsiter J Jayalalithaa, to appear before the Commission on November 14.

Mr Justice K P Sivasubramaniam, who is enquiring into the alleged grabbing of lands, beloging to Dalits by Bharani Beach Resorts, allegedly owned by Ms Jayalalithaa and Sasikala ordered issue of notice, asking Ms Sasikala to explain into the allegations filed by CPI(M) leader N Varadarajan that they had grabbed the lands.

Ms Jayalalithaa and Ms Sasikala used to stay in the Sirudavur Bungalow though they had denied that the property belonged to them.

The Left party leader and the local Dalits, however, complained before the Commission that the lands allotted to them by the government in the early 1960s, were forcibly taken over by the Ms Jayalalithaa and Ms Sasikala.

The Commission ordered notice to Mr N Palanivel, who is Ms Sasikala's husband's brother, also to appear on November 14 and give his explanation.
