Chiru's Praja Rajyam to support Telangana
Hyderabad, Oct 31: Announcing his party's stand on the vexed Telangana issue Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) founder-President Chiranjeevi on Friday, Oct 31 said his party would support any proposal to create a separate Telangana state. Addressing the gathering at Jagitayala in Karimnagar District on the second day of the second leg of his 'Praja Ankita Yatra', he said if the Congress-led UPA government brings in a resolution on separate Telangana, his party would support it. The PRP would always honour and work for the aspirations of the people of Telangana, he added.
''Ultimately, the Centre has to act on separate Telangana and we will pressurise them to grant statehood,'' he said. Alleging that the Congress party had cheated the people of Telangana, he said if the Centre proposes a resolution, the PRP would fully support it. The actor-turned-politician claimed that Telangana was not a Backward area but the sucessive governments' lack of interest in its development had pushed it to backwardness. He also alleged that some parties were utilising the Telangana issue for political gains.
