NALCO registers Rs 444.46 crore profit in Q2

Bhubaneswar, Oct 31 (UNI) The National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), a Navratna PSU and India's largest manufacturer and exporter of alumina and aluminium, has achieved higher net profit of Rs 444.46 crore, with a sales turnover of Rs 1,675.91 crore during the second quarter.

According to the reviewed financial results for the second quarter of the fiscal 2008-09, the company has achieved higher net profit of Rs 444.46 crore, with a sales turnover of Rs 1,675.91 crore.

During the same quarter of the previous fiscal, the figures were Rs 439.73 crore and Rs 1,432.12 crore respectively.

The net profit and sales turnover for the half year ended September 2008 were higher at Rs 969.79 crore and Rs 3,282.32 crore respectively, as against the corresponding figures of Rs 886.39 crore and Rs 2,719.24 crore achieved during the first six months of the previous fiscal.

Alumina sales during the first half of this fiscal was higher at 4,43,479 tonnes as against 4,24,615 tonnes achieved during the corresponding period of 2007-08.

The Metal sales was recorded at 1,72,688 tonnes as against 1,72,903 tonnes during the corresponding period of previous fiscal.
