New Delhi, Oct 31 (UNI) State-run National Aluminium Company Ltd (NALCO) today said it posted a marginal increase of 1.07 per cent in its net profit at Rs 444.46 crore for the second quarter ending September 2008 as against Rs 439.73 crore in the previous quarter last fiscal.
The Orissa-based company, engaged in the production and export of alumina and aluminium, said in a statement that its sales turnover stood at Rs 1675.91 crores during Q2FY09, whereas it was Rs 1432.12 crore in Q2FY08, registering a jump of 17.02 per cent.
The Alumina sales in the first half of fiscal was higher at 7,66,400 tonnes as against 7,53,100 tonnes during the year-ago period.
The metal sales, however, dipped at 1,77,068 tonnes, compared to 1,78,945 tonnes during the first half of last fiscal.
