Kochi, Oct 31 (UNI) The Kerala high court today stayed the order of the Upa-Lok Ayukta, recommending to the state government to cancel the appointment to the post of Assistant in Kerala University.
The Upa-Lok Ayukta, N Krishnan Nair, in his order dated September 30 this year, had said there were irregularities and nepotism in the selection of Assistant.
He had also recommended to the state government to take action against Pro-Vice Chancellor of Kerala Univesity Jayaprakash and four Syndicate members.
Hearing a petition filed by the Pro Vice-Chancellor and the four Syndicate members, Justice V Giri directed that the entire action be kept in abeyance. The court will again consider the case on November 19.
The petitioners challenged the Upa-Lok Ayukta order on the ground that it was exceding its jurisdictiion and that Syndicate members, not being public servants, will not come under the purview of the Lok Ayuka Act.
