Srinagar, Oct 31 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police arrested a smuggler and recovered 19 bags of poppy husk, official sources said today.
They said acting on a tip-off, a police party raided village Kaisar Mohalla at Chadoora in the central Kashmir district of Badgam.
During interrogation 19 bags of contraband were recovered and the smuggler Manzoor Ahmad Dar was held.
Police and Excise department officials have launched massive drive against the smugglers who are cultivating banned crops in their fields in the valley.
Banned crops cultivation over thousands of kanals of land has been destroyed in Pulwama and Anantnag district during this summer.
