Jammu, Oct 31 (UNI) In a bid to tighten noose on the menace of copying during examinations, Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has banned mobile phones inside the examination halls.

The examination staff at various centres have been directed to be vigilant and keep a close watch on candidates appearing in the exams to prevent them from indulging in copying.

''Instructions have been issued to all the Superintendents of examination centres to be alert to avoid copying in their respective centres,'' JKBOSE Chairman Prof Deshbandhu told UNI.

Prof Deshbandhu, however, said earlier some cases were reported against postgraduate students at Jammu University but to eliminate the use of mobiles by students appearing in higher secondary examinations, strict instructions had been issued.

''No candidate during the course of examination, will be allowed to carry mobile phones inside the hall and if mobile be recovered from their possession while appearing in the paper, a case of 'unfair means' will be registered,'' Prof Deshbandhu added.
