Hyderabad, Oct 31 (UNI) Floral tributes were paid to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her 24th death anniversary here today.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, his cabinet colleagues, PCC President D Srinivas and other leaders of the party garlanded a portrait of Ms Gandhi the party headquarters ''Gandhi Bhavan.'' An all religion prayer was conducted and verses from Holy scriptures were read out. A two-minute silence was also observed to mark the occasion.
Later, addressing party workers, PCC Chief exhorted them to follow in the footsteps of Ms Gandhi, who was committed for the welfare of the downtrodden and worked for communal harmony and integrity of the country.
The Chief Minister and the PCC President also garlanded a portrait of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on the occasion of birth anniversary of the Iron man of India and recalled the services rendered by him during the freedom struggle.
