Five persons arrested for smuggling wildlife parts
Udupi, Oct 31 (UNI) In a joint operation conducted yesterday by the Shankaranarayana and Kundapura police have arrested five persons and seized skin of Cheeta and Deer horns and tiger nails at Ampar check post in Kundapura taluk of Udupi district.
On a tip off, the police intercepted a jeep in which the culprits were carrying the wildlife parts for transporting them to Mangalore.
The seizure included six pairs of horns of bison and tiger nails and the jeep total worth about Rs 5 lakh, polcie said.
The police said that all the arrested were from local place.
