Dubai, Oct 31: One of India's biggest 10 banks, Bank of Baroda has revealed its plan to expand operations in Oman. M D Mallya, Global Chairman and Managing Director of the bank told reporters here that a new branch would soon be opened in the Batinah town of Sohar, followed later by another branch in Nizwa in the Dhakhliya region.
BoB, which has 2,850 branches within India and 72 abroad, currently has three offices in the Sultanate-- in Ruwi and Muttrah in Muscat and Salalah in the southern Dhofar region. Mallya said the bank planned to open 150 new branches in India and 10 overseas this year, including Qatar and other GCC countries, adding: ''Oman and the UAE are an important territory for us. We have been growing here at more than 50 per cent annually in the last few years.''
