Chandigarh, Oct 30 (UNI) Union Minister of Science and Technology Kapil Sibal today advocated strong action against those indulging in politics of regionalism.
''Some people are encouraging regionalism and are trying to divide society. Strong action must be taken against them,'' he said when asked about the recent attacks on north Indians in Maharashtra.
Mr Sibal was talking to reporters here after his inaugural address at the 49th Foundation Day of the Central Scientific Instruments Organisation.
He said some politicians and political parties were trying to divide society in the name of regionalism. They were destroying the secular fabric of the country.
''Such forces try to destroy our unity in diversity and they should be dealt with sternly,'' he added.
