Rodrigues for plan to support mentally challenged children
Chandigarh, Oct 30 (UNI) Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Union Territory Administrator, General (retd.) S F Rodrigues, today directed officials of the Chandigarh Administration to prepare a comprehensive plan for the support of mentally challenged children by modifying the existing plan.
The plan should focus on proper accommodation, food and other essential requirements for them, he told the officials during his visit today at various upcoming projects in the city.
He emphasized that the plan should be drafted, keeping in view the future requirements.
General Rodrigues visited the construction site of the Home for Mentally Challenged in Sector 31. He directed the officials to expedite the construction work and to complete it by January 2009.
He also visited the upcoming Vocational Training Centre for the Disabled in Sector 46. The construction work of the Centre has been almost completed and its possession will be given to the Department of Social Welfare shortly.
Later, General Rodrigues visited the Working Women Hostel in Sector 24.
