Sangli, Oct 30 (UNI) Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil today stressed that the political leaders of Bihar should stop tarnishing the image of Maharashtra over the recent deaths of the north Indians in Mumbai.
''Instead of making wrong statements for political gain, these leaders should rather do introspection themselves,'' Mr Patil said, when few newspersons met him at village Samadolee of this district.
''These leaders are trying to divert the attention of Bihar's people over their failure to carry out developmental works there by giving wrong statements about the reported deaths of few North Indians in Mumbai recently. They are presenting false picture that they are the saviors of the north Indians in Mumbai,'' he charged.
''What developmental activities did they carry out for the benefit of people in Bihar?'' he wondered.
''These leaders should now come together and use their strength to undertake developmental works in Bihar for the welfare of the people,'' he added.
Mr Patil is in Sangli for last two days on the occasion of Diwali festival.
