Sapporo, Oct 30 (UNI) Team Sidvin India driver Naren Kumar took part in the Shakedown ahead of the Rally of Japan which was held in the Sapporo Dome here today.
''The stages are good, fast and flowing. there was some rain yesterday and a few stages are very muddy. stage 3/7 also has some snow in a few places. It will be a bit difficult if it rains further, the stages of day 2 and 3 are very nice fast and flowing.
The cars can reach speed of 200 KM per hour on some of the stages.
I hope to have a good run here,'' Naren said after the recce.
The official release from the Rally has cancelled stages 3/7 which have about two inches of snow on the road. However, Naren was confident of doing well in the Rally which will be held at Hokkaido from October 30 to November 2.
''The shakedown was held in the same stage as the SSS. The surface was concrete so we could not test on the gravel, but the balance of the car is very good and I am very positive about this rally and the team seems to have done some positive improvements to the car and the overall setup which includes the engine seems good.
The engine now has a good midrange torque and we seem to have overcome the overheating problem which was due to some faulty sensors,'' he said.
''We do not have any news about the rain in stages, but in Sapporo it has been dry, however they are not ruling out rain for the weekend,'' he added.
