Aizawl, Oct 30 (UNI) Mizoram Chief Minister and MNF supremo Zoramthanga today assured that his party would field only ''God-fearing candidates'' in the forthcoming state Assembly polls.
Addressing a crowd of party loyalists at the ruling Mizo National Front's 40th general assembly here, Mr Zoramthanga said, ''God has not only strengthened the MNF, but also cut its rivals to size. The MNF is sure to come back to power for the third consecutive time with the help of God.'' He claimed that after scrutinising probable candidates from different angles, the nomination committee had shortlised names keeping the MNF motto ''For God and the land'' in mind.
''We will field only God-fearing candidates who deserve God's blessings,'' Mr Zoramthanga said, adding that the party candidates would be announced on November 3 or 4.
He also appealed to the party members to accept whoever the party's high command selected as official candidates and said, ''To try to cause harm to the party just because one does not get a party ticket is not the tradition of the MNF.'' Mr Zoramthanga claimed that the MNF, which has been ruling the state for the last two consecutive terms, has not finished its task and therefore needs to be voted back to power for at least another term.
