Lt Gen O P Mathew new Commandant of Army Medical Corps

New Delhi, Oct 30 (UNI) Lt Gen O P Mathew, AVSM, Commandant of Army Hospital (R&R), Delhi has been appointed Colonel Commandant of the Army Medical Corps.

Gen Mathew did his MBBS from AFMC, Pune, in 1970 and MD in General Medicine in 1979 from the same college before obtaining the DM degree in Cardiology in 1988 from Pune University.

Recipient of GOC-in-C (Western Command) commendation, Chief of Army Staff commendation, Sena Medal and Ati Vishisht Sewa medal, he has more than 38 years of experience in medical care and hospital administration, working in all capacities as a medical care provider.

A reputed teacher in Cardiology, he has taught at Bombay, Pune and Delhi Universities. He has contributed prolifically in national and international journals on subjects ranging from lipids to coronary artery diseases and stem cell treatment in acute Myocardial Infraction. Known as a reputed teacher in Cardiology, he has taught at Bombay, Pune and Delhi Universities.
