Jammu, Oct 30 (UNI) Responding to the writ petition filed by the cricketers alleging ''unfair'' selection of probable for the Ranji Trophy tournament, a local court has restrained the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) from announcing the state team which will play their opening four-day match against Jharkhand from November 3 at Jamshedpur.
''The first civil subordinate judge, Jammu, M S Parihar in a direction issued to the JKCA and two selectors from Jammu here on October 27, has restrained the association from announcing the Ranji Trophy team,'' sources said.
The court however, has directed the association not to announce the final names against the JKCA's constitution as it has been alleged by the petitioners that the selection has been made in an ''unconstitutional manner.'' Meanwhile, the court has also asked both the selectors namely Nirmal Singh and Vidya Bhaskar to present before the court and put forth their views by filing necessary objections in the next date of hearing fixed for November 5.
The petitioners namely Ajit Pal Singh, Puneet Kaul, Manish Raghuvanshi, Parveen Singh and Aman Deep Singh have alleged that the selectors have violated the norms of the constitution of JKCA while electing the probables.
Meanwhile, all the 14 probables from Jammu have also been made party in the 17-member list.
However, Ranji Trophy team announced on October 28 at Srinagar, today left from here to play tournament matches to be played at different venues.
