Don't give perishable goods and clothes for relief: TN govt
Chennai, Oct 30 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu government today asked not to donate perishable goods and clothes, while making contributions for the relief materials to be sent to sufffering Tamils in Sri Lanka.
An official release here said those who contribute financial assistance could send it in the form of Cheques or demand drafts in favour ''Sri Lankan Tamils Relief Fund'' to the Chief Secretary.
As the government had not authorised any individual or organisation to collect the relief fund, people should send them only to Chief Secretary, the state government also urged.
Those who wanted to contribute relief materials should avoid clothes and perishable items and give rice, dal and pulses, which were needed in the affected Tamil areas, it said.
They could send these items to Distrct Collectors in their respective regions.
