Gwalior, Oct 30 (UNI) The Labour and Employment Ministry has denied permission to close down the Madhya Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation and issued a directive for reviving the MPSRTC.
A six-page order was issued on Monday by Secretary (Labour) Sudha Pillai.
''The Madhya Pradesh government obtained a no-objection certificate for closure from the Surface Transport Ministry but did not consider it necessary to get the Labour Ministry's nod,'' State Transport Employees Union Working President S P Sharma said here today.
On September 26, the Labour Ministry dismissed revision petitions submitted by the MPSRTC management on September 28, 2006; July 24, 2007 and September 3, 2007.
''The MPSRTC Managing Director and officers of the Law and other departments were present at the September 26 hearing. The Corporation should be given a grant,'' said Mr Sharma.
Nigam Utthan Karmchari Sangharsh Samiti Secretary Shyamsunder Sharma said in Bhopal that the government decided to shut down the MPSRTC in January 2005 and steps in that direction were opposed by the employees.
