Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 29 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister V S Achutanandan today said the state has intensified investigation into alleged terror links.
Talking to newspersons here after the cabinet meeting, he said, ''Those believed to have terror links are being taken into custody and questioned under DIG Vinodh Kumar''.
When asked about the number of arrests, Mr Achutanandan said some arrests had been made and the numbers could not be divulged at this stage.
''It is known that all the four terrorists from Kerala who were killed in Kashmir and others arrested here have criminal backgrounds,'' he said.
On CPI (M) sate secretary Pinarayi Vijayan's allegation that the pro-Muslim National Development Front (NDF) was recruiting agents for extremist groups, he said NDF, along with the Hindu outfits- RSS and Bajrang Dal, was also a suspected outfit.
''Earlier also there were certain doubts about this organisation.
They recruit youngsters in the age group of 16 to 18 to their organisation,'' he added.
Clarifying that his earlier statement made at the Valedictory function of the Pannapra-Vayalar uprising that religious education should not encourage the youth to take route of terrorism, was not aimed at any paritcular religion, he said, ''I had said religious education should not go against secularism of the country. But certain religious leaders, including those in the Muslim League, said I had targeted a particular community.'' MORE UNI PN SP AKJ SSC1515
