Team Sidvin looking forward to Rally of Japan

By Staff

New Delhi, Oct 29 (UNI) Team Sidvin India is gearing up for the Rally of Japan to be held at Hokkaido from October 30 to November 2.

Team Sidvin and Naren have gone to rough times in the last three rallies in Turkey, Finland and New Zealand. Lady Luck did not favour Naren of Team Sidvin India on the last day when Naren was in the 8th Position a broken Differential put paid to his hopes and the hopes of the Rally enthusiasts in India. It was really sad that India did not finish among the points in the Rally New Zealand event.

The team is eager for a good showing in the Rally of Japan which has quickly become a popular fixture on the calendar following its WRC debut in 2004.

The event is being held close to Sapporo, Hokkaido's main city.

The new rally is expected to feature a similar character to that of New Zealand, with sweeping stages and narrow forest roads.

With 118 entries to the Rally it is the biggest event in Asia on the WRC calendar.

''I had said when we launched Team Sidvin India early this year that this is a year for Naren and TSI to put the miles on the record books. We are not here to become champions the first year. Having said that it would be nice if we have some points from this rally, to show that Indians have finally arrived on the World Rally Scene,'' Team Sidvin India Managing Director Mohan Nagarajan said in a statement.

TSI and Tommi Makinen Racing who have prepared the Subaru WRX 08 for TSI have done extensive testing in Finland on some new mappings in the engine during this break after New Zealand and the car looks very good said Mohan Nagarajan and Esko Reiners Managing Director of Tommi Makinen Racing.

Naren told at the team meeting that he finally hopes his luck will change this time around and he is keen to get the points on the table.
