Talks continue to have Muralitharan in Ranji against Assam

By Staff

Kolkata, Oct 29 (UNI) Efforts were still on to rope in Mutthiah Muralitharan to play for Bengal against Assam in Ranji Trophy on Monday at Maligaon, Cricket Associaton of Bengal president Jagmohan Dalmiya said here today.

He said the CAB was chalking out Muralitharan's travelling plan as the Sri Lankan's itinerary to Zimbabwe is beginning November 10.

Dalmiya said since the four-day Ranji match ends on November six, time was the biggest hurdle in the way for getting him for Bengal side.

He said things would be cleared by Friday.

Meanwhile, the CAB would not show cause rising batsman Monoj Tiwari for his comment for dropping Arindam Das from the first two Ranji matches against Assam and Madhya Pradesh.

CAB joint secretary Arun Mitra said Tiwari in a letter today apologised for his remark.

Tiwari in a letter to Dalmiya said he would abide by the decision of the CAB in future.
