Sterlite conducts free medical camps

Tuticorin, Oct 29 (UNI) As part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative in the field of health, Tuticorin based Sterlite Industries (I) Ltd conducted free medical camps at South New Colony and Kootudankadu in the city recently.

The medical camp held at SP complex in south new colony was inaugurated by Ms S Uma, Deputy Director of Health Services. The camp organised in association with Apollo Hospitals, Madurai and Ar-Rahmania Narsevai Manram witnessed wide participation from the residents as 220 people turned up for the event.

A team of doctors comprising Dr Centhilnathan, Dr Kanniammal and Dr Punithavathy screened the residents of the area. Tuticorin Corporation Mayor R Kasthuri Thangam, S Mohammed Shahjahan, 30th ward councilor were also present.

In another camp held on the premises of Panchyat Union office at Kootudankadu, 176 villagers enthusiastically participated and made the event successful.

Urine test, diabetes test, blood pressure test, electrocardiogram (ECG) and X-rays were done on the participants of both the camps.

Free medicines were also distributed to the people who suffered from various physical ailments.

Mr R Rajasekarapandy, Head, CSR and Ms Suganthi Chelladurai, Associate Manager, CSR, SIIL were also among those who were present in the camps.
