Sambalpur, Oct 29 (UNI) In a heart-rendering incident, a student of class X mistook a real pistol as a toy and died when accidentally a bullet pierced his heart.
The tragic incident took place in Gurupada in the heart of the city here last night when the whole town was busy celebrating Diwali festival.
The deceased Puspak Mishra (15), police said, died by none other than the bullet from a countrymade pistol of his own cousin brother, also a neighbour.
Police said Puspak was playing with cousin brother Abinash Behera (17) in his house and was under the impression that his brother was playing with toy pistol and not a real countrymade gun.
While playing a bullet from the gun suddenly pierced the heart.
He was rushed to the hospital by family members, but the doctors declared him brought dead.
Sources said initially the family members were of the impression that pieces of glass bottle, used during playing fire crackers, might be the reason behind the injury and the death.
But the doctors at the hospital revealed that the death was due to bullet injury.
Police later arrested Abinash, seized the pistol and forwarded him to court.
