Mysore: A special Nov 1 gift to rail commuters
Mysore, Oct 29: Nanjangud-Chamarajanagar railway line is ready for passenger service, after successful trial runs were held on the newly laid broadgauge line.
With this, direct train service between Mysore and Chamarajanagar will become operational soon, much to the relief of hundreds of daily commuters. “We received a communique from the Commissioner giving his consent for introducing passenger service on the section and have been asked to be ready to start the service," according to officials in the Mysore Division of the South Western Railway. There is every possibility of the passenger service being inaugurated on November 1 as a Rajyothsava gift to the people of the State as insisted by Chamarajanagar MP M Shivanna.
A senior official said they were ready for November 1 inauguration but were awaiting a confirmation.
