Group clash in Amur village; 35 held, 15 injured
Tiruchirapalli, Oct 29: Police arrested 35 people in connection with a clash in which 15 persons were injured at Amur village near here on Tuesday, Oct 27.
Police said the clash took place when Palanisamy, an employee of TASMAC that runs the liquor retail trade in the state, went to a shop owned by one Rajendran to purchase meat. A wordy duel erupted between the two over the mutton price resulting in a quarrel.
When Palanisamy's father A Sannasi went to call him for lunch later, a group of people exchanged heated words with Sannasi over his son's behaviour.
Following this, a clash broke out in which both the groups used wooden logs. Fifteen people, including two women were injured, police said adding that 11 people were admitted to Government hospitals in Musiri and Srirangam.
