Itanagar, Oct 29 (UNI) At least eight people have been killed in continuous landslips in West Kameng and Tawang districts of Arunachal Pradesh near China.
Official sources said here today that so far eight bodies had been recovered and there could be more as reports of landslides were pouring in from the remote areas with which there was no direct connection.
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu today made an aerial visit to the affected areas and took stock of the situation.
It would take more than a month to restore road connection with the affected areas, sources added.
The BRO engineers were also working on war footing, but heavy rain along with winds had made it impossible to work continuously.
Mr Dorjee had released Rs 50 lakh for the road restoration work besides Rs one lakh to the next kith of those killed.
