Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 29 (UNI) Hinting the government had no plan to ban the National Development Front (NDF), a Muslim outfit, for its alleged involvement in recruiting youths for terror activities, Kerala Local Self Government Minister Paloli Mohammed Kutty today said banning such organisations for checking ''terrorism'' was not at all a ''remedy.'' Talking to mediapersons after a review meeting of police officials here, he said a ban on these organisations would not deliver the desired result. The need of the hour was to create awareness among the people about the menace.
Mr Mohammadkutty, who chaired the meeting in the absence of Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, now on an official foreign tour, said the government would strengthen the police force and the Intelligence Department in the wake of some youths being killed by the security forces in Kashmir recently.
Pointing out that terrorists were found in all communities, he said it was not right to blame a particular community for the menace.
The Minister claimed the government did not receive any assistance from the Intelligence Bureau or the Kashmir Police to identify the youths killed in Kashmir.
The youths could be identified only due to the efforts of the State Police and the Intelligence Wing.
