Apple from here, bananas from PoK cross border in Uri
Srinagar, Oct 29 (UNI) A convoy of 20 trucks, carrying apple, bananas, dry fruits and other articles crossed sides at Kaman post through Aman Setu, the last Indian post on the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector, about 120 km from here, official sources said.
This was the second consignment from Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) here since the trade were resumed between the two parts of Jammu and Kashmir on October 21 following agreement between India and Pakistan for truck service through Jhelum valley road after more than six decades.
Sources said after proper checking, 17 trucks carrying fresh fruits, mostly apple, dry fruit and other articles, left Salamabad at 1430 hrs yesterday to cross over the other side of the border.
The trucks crossed the bridge '' Aman Setu'' to reach Chakoti where they were off loaded for onward transportation to different parts of the PoK.
Similarly, seven trucks from PoK, carrying bananas, pomegranates, dry fruit, onion and other articles crossed over to this side in the afternoon, they said.
The manufacturers and other traders in the Kashmir valley alleged that they are feeling handicapped in the absence of telephone and communication with PoK and Pakistan.
We cannot book our orders with our counterpart on the other side, they said adding similarly we cannot receive order from them.
