70 referred to hospitals due to cracker injury
Bangalore, Oct 29 (UNI) At least 70 persons, mostly children, were injured in the past two days while bursting crackers in the ongoing Diwali festivities in the city.
Police said 70 persons had been injured and referred various eye-care hospitals including Minto Hospital and Narayana Netralaya.
They were injured while enjoying bustering of crackers as part of the festival of lights.
Police said 30 people were referred to the hospitals today taking those injured to 70 since yesterday. Diwali is being celebrated for three days in the city since Monday.
Doctors in Narayana Netralaya said some of the injured were in danger of losing eye sight in one of their eyes. "We have performed two surgeries. We fear three of these children may lose eye sight in ong of their eyes," doctors said.
In the government Minto hospital, where most of the cases were referred, 7-year-old Ali was admitted today after he badly hurt one of his eye while busting crackers. Earlier a 3-year-old Pavitra was brought with burn injuries in the eyes and face.
The 30-year-old Jayamma was injured when some one burst crackers while she was passing in the street.
In Shekar Netrayalaya 19 were referred of wholme five had received serious eye injuries.
