Nitish Kumar demands CBI probe into Rahul Raj's murder
Patna, Oct 28 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today demanded a CBI or judicial probe by a sitting judge into the killing of Rahul Raj Prasad by Mumbai police yesterday.
Speaking to newspersons after meeting the parents of Rahul at his Kadamkuan residence here, the Chief Minister described the shooting down of the 25-year-old paramedical student from Bihar in the BEST bus in Mumbai by the police as ''barbaric and cowardly''.
He was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, Heath Minister Nand Kishore Yadav and DGP D N Gautam.
Expressing concern over the growing incidents of attacks on Bihari students in Maharashtra, the Chief Minister, had led an all-party delegation to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New Delhi yesterday.
He said they had sought immediate intervention of the Prime Minister into the whole episode and demanded stern action against Maharashtra Navnirman Sena Chief Raj Thackeray and banning of the party because of their alleged anti-national activities.
''The Prime Minister had promised us to deliver justice and that too very soon,'' Mr Kumar said and urged the people to remain calm and not resort to any further violence as he hoped that the truth would surely come out from a CBI or a judicial probe.
