Thane, Oct 28 (UNI) Member of Maharashtra Legislative Council Sanjay Kelkar, who represents the Konkan Graduates Constituency, is now seen on the stage -- not that of a political rally but theatre.

Mr Kelkar has a taste for theatre and he has taken up a role in a newly launched Marathi play based on the life of Swami Vivekananda.

He is enacting the role of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, guru of Swami Vivekanada.

The play is based on the novel, 'Narendra the Vivekananda ek Zanjavat', written by Pradeep Dhaval, a prominent Marathi litterateur. It is produced by Pradeep Dhaval and directed by Ashok Samel. It is a joint venture of Konkan Kala Akadami and Rigved, an arts theatre.

The play was launched on the auspicious occasion of Dusshera and has already completed a couple of shows and is fast progressing throughout the state.

Mr Kelkar, who was brought up on the ideology of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), has undoubtedly preferred to act in the drama 'Sanyastha Jwalamukhi'.

Mr Kelkar, a Chartered Accountant by profession, was earlier the president of the Thane city and district BJP. He became the Konkan region chief before being elected as the MLC of the Konkan Graduates Constituency.
