Hyderabad, Oct 27 (UNI) Close on the heels of setting up of the consultate of the United States, the honorary Consulate of the Russian Federation was inaugurated here today.
Speaking on the occasion, Ambassdor of Russian Federation Vyacheslav I Tribnikov said the State had made remarkable progress in various fields.
Describing India as the ''closest and reliable partner'', the diplomat envisaged expanding the ties in various fields including trade, commerce, culture, oil and gas, chemical industry, pharmaceuticals, thermal power plants, metallurgical plants and space research.
Unveiling the plaque of the Consulate of the Russian Federation, at an impressive ceremony, Speaker K R Suresh Reddy expressed confidence that the new Consulate would help in strengthening of the ties between the state and the Russian Federation.
Describing Russia as a longstanding trusted friend of India, Mr Reddy said both the countries had diplomatic exchanges at the highest level for long. He inviited the Russian parliamentary delegation to visit Andhra Pradesh.
Consul General Peter Hassan felt that the setting up of the consulate here would further strengthen the close relationship between the two countries which ''share a common aspiration''.
