Rehab Cabinet Sub-Committee meets in Dispur

Guwahati, Oct 27 (UNI) The Cabinet Sub-Committee, formed for rehabilitation of communal clash victims in Assam's Darrang and Udalguri districts, today held a meeting at Dispur and discussed various issues. Attended by all six members of the Sub-Committee, including its chairman Dr Bhumidhar Barman, the meeting decided to take steps for quick rehabilitation of the homeless victims.

It was decided to provide tins and Rs 5,000 each for temporary shelters to all families rendered homeless in the clashes between tribal Bodos and Bangladeshis in the starting of this month.

The Sub-Committee instructed the State Public Works Department to come up with a model for construction of new houses.

Reports of inadequate health care facilities, especially for infants, were also discussed by the Sub-Committee.

It decided to provide Rs 500 to parents of every infant in the relief camps and a health expert team would also visit the areas on Wednesday.

The Sub-Committee, constituted on October 22, had been directed by the Chief Minister to submit its report within ten days.
